Description
This late Roman cast bronze signet ring, named 'Numerius Magnus,' dates to the 3rd–5th century CE and carries the quiet gravity of a provincial workshop piece. Its high conical pedestal and flat circular bezel rise from a slender D-section hoop, all cast as a single integral form — a hallmark of late Roman metalwork. The bezel face is now smooth, whether left blank for a future seal or softened by centuries of wear, giving the ring a meditative, unembellished presence.

Historical Context:
Pedestal-bezel signet rings were widespread across the late Roman provinces, particularly in the eastern Mediterranean and Asia Minor, where provincial workshops produced them in quantity through the 3rd–5th centuries. Such rings served both as personal seals and as markers of status, with blank or heavily worn bezels well attested in the archaeological record. As an authentic Roman signet ring collector piece, 'Numerius Magnus' speaks to the daily life of a citizen of the later Empire — pragmatic, durable, and quietly personal.
Why This Piece?
With its strong architectural silhouette and richly varied patina, 'Numerius Magnus' is an original Roman ring for those drawn to form over ornament. It wears beautifully as a historical ring with documented provenance, and its unadorned bezel invites the imagination to fill the silence.
