Historical context

Vespasian (69-79 CE), founder of the Flavian dynasty, restored Imperial finances after the chaotic Year of the Four Emperors. His denarii frequently celebrate the Pax Augusta and the conquest of Judaea, propaganda for stability after civil war. The legend TRI POT marks his tribunician power, renewed annually and used by collectors to date individual issues.
