Description

This early medieval bronze ring features a raised, turret like circular bezel surmounted by a small central knop. The bezel is decorated with a radiating star or rosette motif executed in shallow linear engraving. Cast in one piece with a plain rounded hoop, the elevated bezel architecture and abstract decoration align with early medieval ring types rather than classical Roman examples. Surface wear and patina are consistent with long use and age.

Historical Context
Raised bezels with central knops and radiating star motifs appear across early medieval Europe as abstract personal identifiers. Such designs favored symbolic geometry over figural imagery and were used as practical personal seals or everyday ornaments. Rings of this type were worn by civilians and local officials, reflecting a transitional tradition that continued into the high medieval period in some regions.
