Historical Context
Bronze cross pendants were widely used in the High Middle Ages among lay believers, clergy, and travellers. They were worn on the chest as a reminder of faith and as a source of spiritual protection. Trefoil ended crosses appear in regions influenced by both Western and Byzantine traditions, reflecting the interconnected Christian world of the period. Such pendants often accompanied individuals through daily life, long journeys, and pilgrimage routes.
