This authentic post-medieval to modern base-metal ring, named "Octavius," features a distinctive diamond-shaped bezel with punchwork dots and geometric motifs that mimic the sparkle of gemstone faceting. The reddish patina points to a copper-rich alloy, typical for affordable jewelry of the 18th and 19th centuries. Rings like this offered an elegant look at a fraction of the cost, and were widely worn across Europe.
