This Byzantine silver ring is set with a polished circular carnelian cabochon held within a high walled bezel. The D shaped hoop expands into broad shoulders decorated with finely incised geometric and stylized vegetal motifs, characteristic of Middle Byzantine metalwork. The proportions are balanced and refined, and the stone remains well centered and secure. The ring reflects careful craftsmanship and restrained elegance rather than overt display.
