Description
This cast bronze ring features a compact oval bezel decorated with a central dot surrounded by a circle of evenly spaced outer dots, forming a classic rosette or star-like pattern. Such dotted arrangements were common in Late Roman provincial workshops and continued into the Migration and Early Medieval periods as simple apotropaic symbols. The ring’s thick, slightly uneven band and integral cast bezel reflect everyday craftsmanship typical of frontier and rural communities.

Historical Context
Rosette and dotted star motifs were widely used across Late Antiquity as symbols of protection and good fortune. They appear on rings, buckles, pottery, and metal fittings throughout the Roman frontier zones and early medieval Europe. Rings of this type were inexpensive personal ornaments worn by civilians, soldiers, and settlers during a period marked by cultural blending between Roman traditions and emerging early medieval identities.
