This post-medieval base-metal ring, named "Columba," features an oval bezel engraved with a bird in flight-likely a dove, the enduring Christian symbol of peace and the Holy Spirit. The shoulders are decorated with a foliate (leaf) pattern, giving the piece a refined devotional character. Such rings became increasingly popular among laypeople from the 17th through 19th centuries as personal tokens of faith.
